Where Is My Mind? A Tribute To The Pixies

In rock 'n' roll, everybody has their influences. Ask how many rock acts were influenced by The Pixies and you'd see a startling number of guitars raised. Like the Velvet Underground, The Stooges and the violent Femmes, THE PIXIES had more influence on other musicians than they did on the marketplace. For reasons that still beg explanation, The Pixies broke up shortly after opening up for U2 on the indoor leg of their 1992 "Zoo TV" tour.

In the seven years since the breakup of The Pixies, the legend just keeps growing. Bigger in death than in life? Hardly a new sensation in rock 'n' roll history. In the case of The Pixies, Boston's alt-rock "noise-pop" foursome is widly regarded as one of the most influential rock bands of the last 20 years increasingly ahead of its time and, thus Critically Correct. Masterminded by neo-pubk hero, Frank Black, The Pixies were known for playing with intoxicating energy and intensity. Their busy brief songs extreme dynamics and subversion of conventional pop structure became such a touchstone of 90s alt-rock that even its poster boy, the late Kurt Cobain, cited THE PIXIES as one of his biggest influences. It's with these thoughts in mind that Glue Factory Records, a division of The Oglio Entertainment Group, Inc. Is proud to present the long awaited CD, Where Is My Mind? A Tribute to The Pixies. Pure Pixies Post-Punk distilled with the supreme affection and admiration of some of rock's most admired young bands, this 15-track homage embodies everything that was ever true about rock 'n' roll. Eve 6, Weezer, Local H, Nada Surf, Superdrag and Reel Big Fish lead a diverse lineup of pop bands paying respect to a group that's already been gone almost twice as long as it was around. All 15 bands were encouraged by producer Kevin Knight, the project's originator, to pick a Pixies song, destroy it, and then make it their own. No one disappointed.
