Third One Rises

"Third One Rises" is the startling and stunning debut from World Sanguine Report. W.S.R. were forged in late 2006 to sound the startling, genre defying and unique compositions of the raggedly brilliant composer, vocalist and lyricist Andrew Plummer.
World Sanguine Report are a super-group featuring some of the UK's finest, award winning musicians; based between London and Leeds, W.S.R. are a multi-headed beast of a band, boasting some of the freshest new talent on the UK scene.
Forming a formidable ensemble, W.S.R. blur musical boundaries in beautiful and brutal ways through juxtaposition of compositional techniques, cut throat improvisations, story-telling and song. Drawing on a wealth of influences (Nancarrow, Scelsci, Beefheart, Messiaen, Waits, Patton to name a few), Plummer's heartrending wonky pieces sound part New Orleans brass band, part Mr Bungle, to a spellbinding effect.
Beginning with nods to strophic forms and memorable melodies, W.S.R. disassemble structure, tonalities and rhythmic counterpoint throughout the course of the record, as if holding back a tide of cacophony.
The result is a violent and beautiful journey, capturing the despondency and antagonism of the most disaffected and alienated elements of Western counter-culture.
Third One Rises also features guest musicians making appearances throughout, the most notable of whom is Billy Jenkins.
Having released over 40 albums, he is best known as a blues guitarist and commentator de nos jours. W.S.R. have quickly built a strong following nationally, drawing crowds from jazz, avant-rock and new music scenes alike. W.S.R. are in the process of booking a national album launch tour for Nov/Dec 2009 with the London date being a part of the prestigious London Jazz Festival.
