Beats From Beyond EP

If you like your dubstep dark, bare and devastatingly simple, than this four-player EP is for you. DJ M2J’s ‘Voltage’ is the one that’s picking the most attention so far, a heavy and minimalistic jumped-up cut, fed on a steady diet of breakbeats and with a rising and falling bass-end tailor made for filling the floor. Kalbata’s ‘Nicaragua’ takes cues from early Model 500 and UR, building up layers around a hard off-set drum pattern while a single circling bass tone becomes ever-more prominent in the mix. ‘Nite Boat’ by Crooked One is a very basic exercise in emphatic snare drums and low-frequency effects, and DJ Controlled Weirdness (of Dead Silence Syndicate) comes up with the dirtiest of dirty electronics on ‘Bass Sox Express’. Previous EPs on Dirty Needles have delivered tracks from Blackmass Plastics, The Dexorcist, Scan One, and Warlock, so you know they’re on point when it comes to raw and grime-caked electrobass beats.
