‘Where Were U in 92 ?’ is the rave album that was never made in the early ‘90s, a tumbling anthemic barrage of lost mixtape masterpieces from an artist who has taken the electronic dance scene by storm. However, this is not just some facsimilie-style homage to the past, taking a firm grip of the energy and sheer rushing dynamics of early hardcore breakbeat, and placing those sounds and styles smack in the centre of right now. If Bass Rave is the next new twist to the dubstep template, Zomby already has it bent all out of shape.

After completing a thoroughly uninspiring music technology course in Leeds, a despondent Luke Blair returned to North London with some big decisions to make. Instead, he avoided them and immersed himself in a world of daytime TV, late-night beat-making, and 24-hour existential dread. Inspired by obsessions with artists such as Can, Madlib, Theo Parrish and Autechre, thus Lukid was born, spending many a lonely night hunched over his midi keyboard, layering up wonky beats and squeezing out woozy chords.
