B-Boy Records The Archives Rare & Unreleased
'The Archives Rare & Unreleased' stems from an extensive trawl through the B-Boy master reels to pull together a huge 32 track collection of rarities and alternates for your listening pleasure.
Even the most thorough vinyl aficionado would have a troubling time attempting to deduce what went on day-to-day at the B-Boy offices. Little has been documented, save for a few non-linear stories told energetically by founder Big Jack Allen, or longtime affiliate Freddy Fresh. The label's releases alone can be perplexing. For every 'Criminal Minded' there is a 'Hardcore X-Mas', for every Levi 167 'Something Fresh To Swing To' there is a Frozen Explosion 'Iwo Jima'. Some may say that all the label had was the genius of Boogie Down Productions but they're dummies. B-Boy had a string of releases that may have gone unnoticed by the mass hip hop crowd, but were revered by fans who were seeking out the gritty New York drum sound and the brilliantly rough mix that made cult favorites like Busy Boys' 'Classical' and The Brothers 'You Can't Win' highly sought out releases to this day.
Highlights include the previously unreleased, and some may argue superior, original version of J.V.C. F.O.R.C.E.'s 'Doin' Damage' as well as a masterful edit of 'The Bridge Is Over' by the modern-day Latin Rascals, The Bladerunners. Plus some unreleased a capellas, a never before released Kool Moe Dee dis track, and the absolute best the label had to offer that you couldn't get your hands on before.
