Soundboy Punishments

Skull Disco's reputation as an innovative and boundary-pushing record label continues to grow, whilst Shackleton and Appleblim are already well known by the cogniscenti as two dubhead mavericks single-mindedly following the path seldom travelled. As both producers stand on the brink of greater popularity, with Shackleton's unique percussive sound winning plaudits from the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Radio Slave and Kode9, and Appleblim's bass line fury unleashed with devastating results on many a dancefloor, now is the ideal time to release a document of their first releases, some of which are long since sold out of their original vinyl pressings.

Appleblim and Shackleton's styles not only diverge from and oppose each other, but are varied and hybrid within their own individual domains, never stuck on a single idea, always reaching for the next level of invention. 'Soundboy Punishments' Disc # 1 collects 11 tracks from of the first 5 vinyl releases on Skull Disco, each standing out from its peers with an idiosyncratic nature and bloody minded refusal to follow the crowd. Disc # 2 includes some of the more eclectic, unreleased, and non-Skull tracks, among which are the eagerly anticipated Ricardo Villalobos remix of 'Blood On My Hands', Shackleton's Hot Flush and Mordant Music releases, and a couple of previously unheard beasts from each producer. This punishment is as comprehensive as it gets, so take it like a soundboy.
