Split
The Static Caravan house of recordings deigns fit to issue a split CDEP by Textile Ranch and New York ambient conceptualists, Charles Atlas, this March.
Textile Ranch offer up 4 new slices of digital automation under such preposterous titlements as 'Murderer/Gardener,' 'Bear Is Ours,' 'We Both Hurt Our Heads' and 'Huguenots.' Susanne Bauszat (Tropes/Early Autumn Break) and Chris Bauer (Early Autumn Break) both stick their oars into 'Murderer/Gardener.' Charles Atlas opts for the more geographical, 'Oakland' and 'Genova.' Charles Atlas is an instrumental duo (often expanding into a trio or quartet) who utilize effected guitar, piano, synthesizer, melodica, trumpet, drum loops, samples, and other instrumentation to paint expansive musical pastures on the crowded walls of the urban centres they and their audiences call home. They have recorded for quality street labels such as Ochre, Static Caravan and audraglint. Textile Ranch is the work of one Glen Johnson. Glen is also the founder member of the band Piano Magic. A band that have released music with a lexicon of good labels and collaborated with rediscovered poets before they were rediscovered. Vashti Bunyan, Alan Sparhawk from Low, Ben Ayres from Cornershop, John Grant of The Czars and Angle David-Guillou of Klima (the latter, recently signed to the Peacefrog label). Textile Ranch is the work of one Glen Johnson. Since the bands first release on Very Friendly he has been carrying out extensive personal research into the shoes of one Joseph Merrick after being commissioned by Nike to write the music to accompany their latest advertisement for trainers designed by David Lynch.
