Just Another Day

The musicians featured on the album include: Eric Martin (ex Mr. Big, background vocals on the opening song "Look Right Through Me"), Pete Lesperance (Harem Scarem), Darren Smith (ex Harem Scarem), Mike Turner (ex Our Lady Peace), Justin Abedin, Mike Borkosky (Mullmuzzler, Lee Aaron, Alannah Myles), Creighton Doane (Harem Scarem, ex Honeymoon Suite) and Ray Coburn (ex Honeymoon Suite).

After spending several years in Oshawa based heavy metal band Blind Vengeance, Harry Hess and Darren Smith founded the band Harem Scarem, together with their buddies Pete Lesperance and Mike Gionet in 1988. Their eponymous debut on WEA was released in 1991 and quickly climbed the rock charts, going on to sell a respectable 30,000 copies in Canada. It was also released by WEA in Germany, Benelux, Portugal and Spain. Getting off the road in the fall of 1992, principal songwriters Hess and Lesperance started writing once more and the result was 1993's "Mood Swings": a departure from the pop-metal of the first album. This album is considered by many to be the best melodic rock album of the 90`s and tracks from it are still filling dance-floors around Europe. No other band in the melodic rock genre has delivered such a varied discography throughout their career as these heroes from Canada. From the high quality poser rock of their early days, through melodic rock and almost progressive song structures (the "Voice Of Reason" album) to the power pop of the releases as Rubber, the band always surprised their fans with new ideas. No one album sounds like the others, but due to the distinctive voice and songwriting of Harry Hess and the harmonic guitar playing of Pete Lesperance, the unique style of the band is always recognizable. Now the time has come in the year 2003 for Harem Scarem`s singer and main songwriter Harry Hess to release his debut solo album, entitled "Just Another Day". With this CD Harry intends to go back to certain sounds and atmospheres leaning more towards melodic rock and pop music, avoiding the heavier guitar approach typical of the last Harem Scarem release and with more in common with traditional pop/rock singer/songwriters. As a special gift to the fans Harry decided to re-record "Sentimental Blvd", an undoubted Harem Scarem classic from the "Mood Swings" album. The 2003 version loses none of the class of the original but adds a couple of new twists to the track. "Just Another Day" is a superb slice of contemporary melodic rock with pop influences which will make Harem Scarem`s existing fans happy and even has the potential to win a whole new audience over to Harry`s high quality music!
