UM - Giraffe (refined)
Vocalising alongside minute blocks of digital yuck, UM struts like a broken, funkless version of Harco Pront ( Music for Speakers ) occasionally knocking knees with The Residents ( Euroralph ) and Voks ( Dekorder ). Recent output includes the wonderful Africa is a Fridge 7" ( Strange Lights ) (DJ-ed by Felix Kubin and Jason Forrest, amongst others) and several homemade CDR releases. Giraffe is one such record and Tripel's 'refined' version borrows the best of that here. Fifteen digital memoirs anchored in lacquer; abstruse UM stories are echoing further and forever more. Fans of original and best, take heed!
Ascoltare - Fatty Parts For A Good Match
Plundering the world of the reality TV Chef and its surrounding culinary language, Ascoltare serves us a yummy cut/up featuring choice sound bites. Acoustic instruments rejuvenated by digital techniques and numerous production values serve a generous spread for the discerning listener. Sounds range from Jerome Noetinger ( Metamkine ) style electrical squeals to more delicately positioned acoustic sounds. Eccentric organ licks and music-library inspired textures float effortlessly around meaty montages of Iron Chef Judges and British foodies. Added ingredients include Rick Stein, Keith Floyd and Gordon Ramsey all of which undergo the pitch up & down treatment. Stein's continual whining can be heard amongst Bontempi drones and glocken rattles. Noises automate attentively through narrative text and the occasional contrast of Merzbow style fuck-blasts infused with passionate chatter is fresh and humorous. Also provided at the end of this 12" (Specifically cut for all you DJ's!) are choice selections of Gordon Ramsey insults.
For those who continually search for new musical oddities Tripel's 4 th should not disappoint. Strictly limited to 500 copies, buy this super ridiculous picture plate before it fulfils its charity shop destiny.
