New Heavy Sounds Volume 2

300 hand screen-printed and numbered CDs. Another 70 minutes of heavy aural riffing assault, from some of the newest and heaviest bands around, representing the harder, heavier, more abrasive end of the indie (ROCK) scene. Not metal bands but bands with gutsy guitar riffs to appeal to the Metal, Doom, and Hardcore fraternities who find themselves looking for something new. Likewise, bands accessible enough for the indie kid looking for a step towards a more solid, hard-rocking scene. The bands featured are all making their names on the live circuit and were drawn primarily from those playing shows at our regular New Heavy Sounds Club Nights in London over the last 12 months. Vol.2 follows hot on the heels of the scene defining release, 'Vol.1' in January 2011 which featured the strongest possible lineup of exclusively UK heavy bands such as Pulled Apart By Horses, Rolo Tomassi, Bo Ningen, Kong, Turbowolf, Chickenhawk (now Hawk Eyes), Holy State. Back in January, the scene was already growing fast and the release of a second volume was a certainty. In these last 8 months The New Heavy Sounds Club has continued to feature the best and newest bands at the regular club nights at The Macbeth in North London and has expanded the outlook to introduce some of the international touring heavy bands such as Tweak Bird and White Hills into lineups introducing bands from our homegrown scene. So it was a simple decision to include a selection of these international heavy sounds alongside their riff-neighbours in the UK within the lineup of NHS Volume 2. It was also a pleasure to collaborate with some of the labels working with bands in this area like Thrill Jockey, Kemado, and Holy Roar. Bands featured such as White Hills, True Widow, Tweak Bird, Mojo Fury and The Sword are touring on the back of already highly acclaimed album releases while many of the (mostly UK) featured bands are on the verge of breaking through with their debut releases like Lafaro, Black Moth, Computers, Gum Takes Tooth.
