Songs For Trees And Cyborgs

In the year since the release of his debut album ‘Death Star Droid’, Berlin stromtrooper Robot Koch has maintained a highly prolific and high quality workrate. In 2010 alone he dropped the new Jahcoozi album ‘Barefoot Wanderer’ on Bpitch Control, released a new six track EP ‘Listen To Them Fade’ on Project Mooncircle, piled up a stack of remixes and productions for both major and indie artists, and played stunning live shows everywhere from Low End Theory to Sonar.

On top of all that, he’s also found time to complete his second LP ‘Songs For Trees And Cyborgs’, which looks set to make a sizeable dent in the underground musical landscape in the closing quarter of this year.

Taking giant steps ahead from the already advanced start-point of ‘Death Star Droid’, the new album demonstrates ever-more clearly Robot’s versatility as a producer, mixing and blending fresh, forward thinking electronic beats with heartfelt melodies and organic live instumentation.

On choice tracks Mr. Koch teams up with the likes of Boxcutter (Planet Mu), 1000 Names (Svetlana Industries, Black Acre), Doshy (Robox Neotech), RQM (Baby Sumo) and Graciela Maria (Project Mooncircle) to present the point where dubstep, hip hop, wonky, glitch, and myriad glistening fragments of other machine-funk influences fuse into a kaleidoscopic collage of sounds.

Across it’s 14 tracks, from lilting mechanik soul to high-pressure dancefloor rhythm excursions, ‘Songs For Trees And Cyborgs’ is music for a modern age that has rarely sounded so good.
