Bowie Tribute Split
This will be Warpaints very first UK single, both tracks are taken from the double CD set “ We Were So Turned On” : A Tribute To David Bowie which is coming out in September on Manimal.
Warpaint cover “Ashes to Ashes” and Sister Crayon does a fine take on “The Bewlay Brothers”. This 7” will be limited to 1000 copies (900 on red vinyl and 100 special black ones which will be distributed randomly).
The album has already been all over Pitchfork and NME.com so expect and huge amount of press on its release. There will be another limited 7” taken from the album later on this year. All profits from the album will be donated to Warchild.
War Child is a charity that simply helps children affected by war across the globe no matter what border they inhabit. A charity that Bowie makes no secret about supporting.
Other artists on the album include Devendra Banhart (Megapuss), Vivian Girls and Carla Bruni, Duran Duran, ex-Slits Viv Albertine and legendary avant-garde bassist/musician Mick Karn. More details to follow soon.
