Songs From The Red Room (Deluxe Version)
With album Shakespears Sister sales in excess of 2 million copies, the Ivor Novello award winning Siobhan Fahey aka Shakespears Sister, returns from her recording hiatus in November 2009, with her new studio album 'Songs From The red Room'. Including writing and production collaborations with contemporary hit-makers Whitey, Jagz kooner, Death In Vegas to musical legends Marco Pirroni (Adam + the Ants, Wolfmen) and Terry Hall (Specials / Fun Boy 3).
The albums first single release 'Bitter Pill', presented here in it's original previously unreleased 'guitar' form has already been covered by The Pussycat Dolls for inclusion on their debut album and renamed 'I Want You Back', their album has since racked up sales in excess of 7 million copies.
The albums second single 'Pulsatron' garnished rave reviews as a "Triumphant Return..." and scoring an impressive 7/10 from the NME (“Shockingly effective jangly electro-infused return from sometime dj" NME). The albums lead single 'It's A Trip' is already gathering enthusiastic radio play and will be released in EP form in Spring 2010.
The album includes a cover of the Linda Lamb classic 'Hot Room'. The album, Shakespears Sisters 4th studio record to date, follows the success of 'Sacred Heart' (1988); Hormonally Yours (1992) '#3' (1997/2004) and the official 'The Best Of' and rarities collection 'Long Live The Queens!' (2005). Having entered the Guiness Book Of Records in 1988 as a founder member of the worlds most successful charting female group to 1993's accolade as the most successful female musical duo ever as Shakespears Sister, both records she still hold today, Siobhan Fahey continues to be one of the UK's most successful female artists.
Bonus CD info : The track “War (fear is real)” is a track with Psychonauts, who are a dj duo whose album was on Mo wax and has just been reissued to critical aclaim . It’s sonically its very different from the electro tip of the rest of the album, its more kraut rock/disco. “She's Lost Control” and “White Rabbit” are 2 tracks with Joe Corrie and Luca for their Dirty stop out electro striptease project, both sound great and one has the video featuring Dita Von Teese. “Someone Else's Gir” was a previous iTunes exclusive, available here on CD for the first time. “I'll Be Your Mirror” (The Velvet Underground & Nico) fits with the psychonauts track quite well (since Pablo Psychonaut was involved with both). The rest are more interesting cover versions, “My World Is Empty Without You” (The Supremes) & “Baby It's You” (The Shirelles).
