Their full name is Wild Billy Childish & The Friends of the Buff Medway Fanciers Association - Childish's latest project after calling it a day with Thee Headcoats in early 2000.

The BUFF MEDWAYS cut a dash with their Victorian army uniforms and their vintage Vox amps. The gear may be old but as one critic wrote the band are "the snarled lip embodiment of rocknroll spirit rather than nostalgia or shabby revivalism". Live and on record The BUFF MEDWAYS are all about great songs and vibrant raw energy - no frills.

The first line up was Billy on guitar and vocal, Johnny Barker (bass) and Wolf Howard (drums), both ex-Daggermen. Johnny has now feft the band to be replaced by Graham Day ex of The Prisoners

They did their first single on Buff Medway Records followed by our one, Dont Hold Me Back, and one on Smart Guy Records in America.

After two albums for Graham Coxons label Transcopic. They have now just finished recording their next album for us at Damaged Goods and its their best yet. Bringing in influences like the Who amongst others has made this album very poppy but still with that Childish snarl.

A single called Lie detector is released on the 24th January 2005 followed by another album Medway Wheelers in late March.

The Buffs recently flew over to the states for a couple of shows with Modest
Mouse and Billy has also just turned down the opportunity to appear on Celebrity Big Brother, you could just imagine him having a nice chat with John McCririck and Caprice.
