At the dawn of time, as the sun rose and the first shadows leaked across the sands of Earth, the Immortal Lee County Killers desperately steered their van toward the new horizon, the spark of life with but one thought in their collective mind-"a shade tree would be nice." The music to bring down these tired old machines and give juice to the new power, the forgotten power, the power of the people- Thrasher. Yet, no shade tree will ever exist for the ILCK. There is no rest in the search for lost time and the soul of art. John Peel did give them juice at the BBC during one of their two Peel sessions last year, and many kind people did provide floor space across Europe, USA, Japan, and Australia for the lads to catch a night's fitful sleep. You see, the band has toured every continent but South America . . . and then toured again . . .
In-between their travels the band recorded two full lengths internationally , a double EP LOVE UNBOLTS THE DARK (Sweet Nothing Records) , and a box full of collectible vinyl singles. The debut full length's descriptive title THE ESSENTIAL FUCKED UP BLUES (Estrus Records) granted a moment of clarity explaining the bristling, relentless sound of their style of blues.
The second record's title, LOVE IS A CHARM OF POWERFUL TROUBLE (Estrus Records , Smash in (Australia), also made a powerful and poignant statement. Revelation always accompanies LOVE. And with "LOVE...." , ILCKII revealed a more dynamic sound-scape, new drummer J.R.R. Token, and the addition of "II" to the name. ILCK always champions evolution and revelation. It is not given to hear such sound at all and none to hear it more than once in his life-William Faulkner
In February 2004, the duo naturally turned trio by adding new member Jeff Goodwin. Goodwin plays the fuzzed Hammond B3 organ and Rhodes electric piano via his wood-grain midi-keyboard. No longer only a punk blues band, ILCK evolved into a new animal that genre specific geek musicologists (a.k.a."scenesters') are challenged to define. The IMMORTAL 3's sound now lies somewhere between the third dimension of depth, revealed on the canvases of the great Renaissance painters, and the mod film, JAWS 3-D. Most importantly there is a whole lot of soul amongst the hollerin' and preachin' -NME Presently during the twilight of man, the ILCK drive their Chevrolet Astro-van (or in the case of international trips, usually a rented VW) on a never-ending search for lost time and the soul of art. For the search yields a reward . IT exists-this reward. People know IT by many names- Nirvana, the Void, etc. The IMMORTAL 3 call IT shade tree. For others, IT has been found.
