Formed in London in 2002 after introductions were made at the semi-legendary Crobar, BIR took their frankly ludicrous moniker from a 60s b-movie - via an old English thrash band.

They starting with a self released cd-r demo handed out to friends and random strangers, and, from such humble beginnings they rose to the dizzy heights supporting the likes of Mastodon, Cathedral and Gwar as well as a host of other underground luminaries.

2005 say the released of the classic Blessed Are The Dead split ep which got great reviews and led to Geoff Barrow of Portishead fame signing them to his Invada label.

Since the recrding of the album founder member Seamus has left for pasture crusty and the Raiders have recruited former Akercoke man Peter Theobald

Drawing on a love of 70s rock, NWOBHM and black metal but with the idea that only truly suitable prefix to metal is heavy... this is British Heavy Metal in the Vein of Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and UFO, with a nod to their American cousins Danzig, The Melvins and Trouble.
