You Say Party! We Say Die! got their start in 2004 with a self-released and currently out of print EP called "dansk wad." This EP was written and recorded by original members Krista Loewen, Becky Ninkovic, Stephen OShea, Jason Nichols and Carissa Ropponen. It containes 4 tracks: 1. GMO-uh-oh! 2. Whats The Hold Up? Wheres The Fire? 3. Apocalypse Meow (now remixed on Hit The Floor! as the hidden track) and self titled track You Say Party! We Say Die!
In February of 2005, Sound Document offered to release the bands first full-length, Hit The Floor!, which was released in September in Canada and October in the USA. The album is also currently available as a low-cost import in Japan and the UK or it is available for purchase online at Amazon.com, CDBaby.com, and ScratchRecords.com.
Shortly following the release of Hit The Floor!, Party/Die headed out on their first cross Canada tour. Unfortunately, van troubles caused them to have to turn around at Montreal, so theyve never actually been from coast to coast. After a mini-tour of Vancouver Island and a short break over Christmas, the band went out again, as far as Thunder Bay headlining, then met up with Controller.Controller and came back across the country to Victoria and Vancouver, then straight down the west coast to perform at SXSW. The SXSW showcases were OFF-THE-HOOK while label reps, publicists, writers and agents from around the world were won over. These showcases have lead to licensing deals in Australia, Japan, and Europe as well as some potential with bigger labels for future releases.
The band recently celebrated their vinyl release of Hit The Floor! (limited edition on Reluctant Recordings) in Victoria, Nanaimo, Vancouver and Whistler. They have also traveled a week into the mid-west USA with Pretty Girls Make Graves, have recently filmed a music video for The Gap by Soft Citizen, and are out now on a 27 day trip around the UK (with a couple dates in Scotland, Ireland and Germany), returning to finish writing and recording the fall EP. Its going to be a busy year for everyone involved with the band. Well keep you posted.
