Skarp was originally formed in late 1999/early 2000 under the monkier "the Fucktards".

Robrt and Renae played in the David Koresh Choir, which had just broken up, and decided they wanted to play somthing more poppy. They recruited Brent McKnight of Act of Heresy (and now November Group) to play bass, and the infamous Eric Brosy of Crisis Rebirth to play drums. The music started out...well...as complete shit, and they all realized that they were much better at playing hardcore than halfassed poppunk.

Eric, a geology major in college, decided the band needed a new name. The Fucktards was just too silly I guess. I still dont get it. The band was henceforth known as Skarp, a misspelled Scarp, which has something to do with faultlines. It also means "sharp like a knife" in Swedish and Norwegian if you wanna get Scandanavian on it. Anyhow, the lineup at this point was Robrt-Guitar, Brent-Bass, Eric-Drums, Renae-Vocals. The sound was still crappy, but totally fun semi-poppy semi-ska punk rock.

Soon Eric decided he was tired of playing drums, so he brought home a strapping young man by the name of Motherfucking Joe New York of Crime Scene to sit in while they practiced. Soon he started coming to practices regularly and eventually filled Erics shoes, while he played second guitar. Skarp was writing alot of songs, and eventually started playing shows. The lineup at this point: Motherfucking Joe New York-drums, Brent-Bass, Eric-guitar, Robrt-guitar, Renae-vox.

Eventually...some things happened, and some people decided to pursue different music with different bands, or just take a break from music in general. Brent decided to leave the band and concentrate fully on the November Group. Eric filled his shoes on bass for a while, until he decided as well that he needed a break. I guess Skarp is just an enormous group of assholes that no one can get along with. That was pretty detrimental to the band, especially considering they were playing more and more shows. They actually played for over 6 months as a three piece, and many people got to witness the suck that was Skarp. The lineup: Joe-drums, Robrt-guitar, Renae-vox.

Skarp eventually went for a more hardcore sound, as opposed to the hardcore/ska/punk they had been playing. For that, they needed a bass player. Skarp had met Tim at a festival when he expressed interest in playing in the band. Skarp was amused by Tim, so they all started playing together. Renae, Joe, Robrt and Tim shared their first tour with Shitlist over the vast tundras of midwestern Canada. The van broke eventually, and everyone was sad. Tim also played bass on the first Skarp recording, which was pressed into a split 7" with Seattle skategrind champs Human Error?!

Tim got hurt and couldnt tour. That wouldnt work. On short notice Skarps friend Andy started playing bass, and was completely amazing. He picked up the songs in no time (yeah...they were REALLY complicated) and was ready to get on the road. The great Human Error/Skarp Summer 2001 tour was under way!

Four more tours and another record. Skarp still has the same lineup as they did a couple years ago, somehow...no ones managed to get pissed off enough to leave. Skarps lineup is (and hopefully will remain) Andy-bass, Joe-drums, Robrt-guitar, Renae-vocals.
